Short Story: Renaissance
Today’s photo is brought to you by the letter R.
When the Renaissance opened in 1973, its concrete structure and direct runway views were the epitome of modern. For most travellers, it was a convenient stopover. But for Surinder Arora, a part-time waiter here in the mid-70s, it was the start of a very different journey.
The young man who once cleared tables in the hotel restaurant would return decades later to buy the building outright. In October 2012, Arora's own company, the Arora Group, acquired the hotel. A remarkable personal renaissance.
